Alan Reed has lived in Greenville County most of his life.  He attended Eastside High School, graduated in the charter class of Riverside High School, and earned a music degree from Mars Hill College in Western North Carolina.  Soon after college, having grown up in the Southern Baptist Church, and having worked as a music director in several congregations of that denomination, he took the position of Music Director at Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenville.  Soon after, he made the leap from Baptist to Lutheran (by way of an Episcopal church, where he sang as a section leader in college), Alan was introduced to his future wife, Laura Jean (“Jeanie”) Moody, a music teacher at Taylors Elementary School.  The couple has  two sons, Mitchell and Philip.
