Masses To Be Celebrated in

The Extraordinary Form of

The Roman Missal

On 7 July 2007, Pope Benedict XVI issued the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum asking all pastors to generously respond to those who request Holy Mass according to the ancient Roman Missal. In response to our Holy Father’s request and the growing interest in the traditional Latin Mass at Prince of Peace, the 11AM Solemn Mass on the following Sundays will be celebrated according to the Roman Missal of Blessed John XXIII for a trial basis: 18 November, and 2 December. (This will replace the 5PM Mass on the first Sundays of the month.)

Perpetual Adoration

“Come to me…and I will refresh you.”

Matthew 11:28

The Guild of St. Thomas Aquinas is celebrating its second anniversary. All Guild members, substitutes and their immediate family members are invited to a breakfast on Saturday, December 1 from 9AM to 11:30AM in Croghan Hall. Reservations must be made by November 21 by calling 331-3935.

Adorers are needed for Wednesdays at 2PM, Thursdays at 2AM, and Fridays at 6PM. For information, call Nancy Mohlman 458-7674 or nmohlman@msn.com

Adoration flowers were donated anonymously this week.

Sympathy: Prayers are requested for the repose of the souls of Charles Jasman of our parish, and Hugh Thomas, husband of Maria Thomas. We extend our condolences to their families and friends.

Sick & Homebound Ministry

Isolation from the parish family by illness, advanced age or other circumstances, can lead to loneliness or depression. If you or a loved one will be hospitalized or is homebound, let us know. Contact the office at 268-4352 and Deacon Gary will arrange to visit and take Communion to them. It is most important to also let us know when someone is released from the hospital and returns home. This will ensure that we transition our contact with that person when they are home

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

RCIA meets each Tuesday at 7PM. If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, please call Fr. Morey at 331-3905.

New Member Picture Sunday

The weekend of November 3 after all Masses, we will be taking a family picture of all of our new members. If you joined our parish within the last three months, please let us meet you. In the narthex of the church, our Welcoming Committee will take your family photo and get some information about your family. Then for the next few weeks, the photos will be on display. New Member Picture Sundays are scheduled for the first Sunday of each month.

Welcome New Parishioners: Federico & Rosa Jaramillo, W. Warehouse Ct., Taylors; and Lawrence & Julie Stokes, Chesterton Ct., Greer.

Christmas by Candlelight

We will host our Christmas dinner/dance on December 15. Dinner provided by Street Side Café; music by Alley Cats. Cost is $30 a person. Menu: Hors D’oeuvres, apple brandy pork chops, potato crusted Dijon chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, vegetable ratatouille and strawberry cream cake, Italian cream cake and chocolate bundt cake. We’ll have door prizes and much more. Tickets go on sale November 18 after Masses and also in the parish office during business hours.

Outreach Tithe Committee

The Outreach Tithe Committee will meet during the week of November 26 to determine the budget for 2008. If you have suggestions for recipients, please contact us. The focus of the committee is to serve the poor, usually through organizations that support them with preference to Catholic organizations. Capital campaigns are not considered. Address your suggestions to: Outreach Tithe Committee and leave it with the parish office. We still have significant commitments in 2008 for our Hurricane Katrina parish of St. Rose de Lima and the Catholic Charities Immigration office.

Fifteen Prince of Peace members and friends are traveling to Bay St. Louis in Mississippi this weekend. They will work next week with our sister parish, St. Rose De Lima, to repair homes damaged by the hurricane. There are still 3,000 families living in FEMA trailers in this town and the financial support and efforts of our parish are so appreciated. Please pray for a safe and successful trip for our volunteers.

Columbiettes and Safe Harbor

To benefit Safe Harbor clients, the Columbiettes will be collecting donations of toiletries, diapers, make-up, and used cell phones that have a charger. They will also accept gifts of women’s clothing suitable for job interviews, children’s clothing, sheets and towels. This collection will take place on November 17-18. Look for the boxes in the narthex of the church. If you need information, please call Caroline Shutler at 281-0254.

Respect Life: From the moment of our conception, God does not see us superficially as a microscopic, unformed cell. In every child, born or unborn, God see the individual He created to love and be loved for all eternity.
